“Having been an elite athlete in Mauritius in the early 90s, I often experienced and witnessed the frustration of sporting injuries. I carried my love for sports through to the UK, where I qualified and practiced my trade in the sports therapy and fitness field since 2005.
Also a qualified lawyer, who has seen the better days of the global Corporate & Finance world, my active nature urged me towards a lifestyle as well as career change.
Always a believer in the ‘Work Hard, Play Hard!’ attitude, I have tried my hand at a range of sporting disciplines, but settled on Running, Triathlon and Freediving over the last few years.
The extensive courses that I have been certified in, combine many innovative and up-to-date training techniques.
Upon graduation in 2005, I worked part time at a sports injury clinic in London. I had the chance to treat athletes from various sporting disciplines – ranging from rugby players, runners, cricketers to martial arts athletes, archers and dragon boat racers.
Working at the London Marathon, one of the biggest sporting events in the world, became an annual occurrence for me, as well as quite a few other events such as triathlons (when I was not taking part and other distance running events).
The Best Part of what I do
I simply love my job. It is very rewarding when athletes return to full fitness and can train or race again. Or even better, when one of ‘my’ athletes achieves a superb performance, it makes me feels that I have contributed to a little part of their success. Building a relationship of trust and experiencing the highs and lows together is something else that makes being a sports therapist really enjoyable.
